What is coaching? . . .

There are a lot of people calling themselves coaches these days, so it’s worth shedding some light on this. Coaching is a process of partnering with clients to transform and inspire them to redefine what is possible. This process is done by helping the client to connect to who they really are and reshape ways of being, thinking and acting to support the client in achieving their vision and goals. Coaches provide the tools, support, accountability and structure for the client to deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life. Coaching differs from therapy, mentorship, and friendship. Therapists typically help clients fix problems and overcome issues, and are generally more focused on figuring out why you are the way you are, based on the past. A coach is generally more focused on seizing on opportunities, figuring out what might not be working, and focuses on co-creating solutions to move the client forward towards their dreams. If an issue comes up during coaching that relates to mental health, it is my professional obligation to refer the client to a therapist. Unlike a mentor, a coach does not use his/her personal experience as a model of success for a client. In coaching, the client is the expert on his/her life and business and the coach is the expert in facilitating the coaching process. I may occasionally reference my own experience to share inspiration and reality, but you will design your own experience. Friends and loved ones are awesome, but let’s face it, they often have their own agenda and needs and may be too close to be completely objective. As a coach, my role is 100% dedicated to listening to you in a 100% objective, non-judgmental and confidential manner. I am a Certified Professional Coach, having completed rigorous online and in-person training with iPEC through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). Professionally, this means I am bound by the International Coach Federation Code of Ethics.

Will you help me book travel? . . .

No, I am not a travel agent or consultant. I'll work with you to help you define your travel intentions and desires, and have plenty of resources for you to help take the stress out of researching things like flights, visas, lodging, etc. I'll be holding space for you to dream, helping hold you accountable to make it happen, but ultimately this is your journey to plan and execute. If you need help with bookings/logistics/research for specific parts of your travel, I can recommend people.
